To get points you need to level your dragon at least one level up. To do this you need your dragon(s) to have enough xp for that. Also you need to have enough food and the appropriate level of the Den.

There is another website that I find very helpful and down to the point. It requires to enter the dragon's name to find the parents and it gives full details of other ways to breed new baby dragons.
